Team Alberta’s return to wrestling at the North American Indigenous Games was a monumental success! 9 athletes competed against teams from across Canada and the USA over 2 days of competition.
Thank you to coaches Taylor McPherson and Shawn Daye-Finley for organizing the 2023 NAIG program and ensuring Alberta’s place on the wrestling mat at future NAIG events! We would also like to thank the Indigenous Sports Council of Alberta – ISCA for their support and guidance, giving our athletes every opportunity to develop their skills and prepare for success.
We are excited to build the program to even greater heights as we look forward to the next North American Indigenous Games in 2027!
