Elected at the 2021 Dino Invitational by their peers, the Alberta Amateur Wrestling Association welcomes Taylor McPherson and Callum McNeice as the Alberta Wrestling Executive Athlete Representatives for 2021-2022!

McPherson begins her first term as the female athlete representative. An alumnus of the Calgary Spartan Wrestling Club in Calgary, Taylor is currently in her 4th year of eligibility at the University of Alberta. One of two coaches in Alberta selected as part of the Aboriginal Apprenticeship Program, Taylor will be joining Team Alberta at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara. She will also be representing Canada this November at the U23 World Championships.  She is excited to play an integral role in getting Team Alberta to the 2023 North American Indigenous Games in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Having been first elected as the male athlete representative in 2019-2020, McNeice commences his third year on the AAWA Executive. During the pandemic, Callum assisted in the development and delivery of online training and educational opportunities for our age group athletes. A graduate of the University of Calgary, Callum started his wrestling career with the Cochrane Cowboys. He was a senior national champion at 79 kg in 2019. McNeice is currently a member of the Calgary Fire Department.

AAWA would also like to thank outgoing female athlete’s representative Danielle Lappage for all her contributions over the past couple seasons, ensuring our young athletes had opportunities regardless of the challenges presented by COVID-19.
