AAWA COVID-19 Update – March 16, 2020 (click here)
In the past several days, Alberta, along with much of Canada, has seen a dramatic increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and government recommended and imposed restrictions on numerous activities, including an indefinite closure of schools. As per our Coaching Code of Ethics:
“Communicate and cooperate with registered medical practitioners in the diagnoses, treatment
and management of their athletes’ medical and psychological concerns. Consider the athletes’
future health and well-being as foremost when making decisions regarding an injured athletes’
ability to continue wrestling or training”
With the current restrictions imposed by the federal, provincial and municipal governments of Alberta, AAWA recommends all member clubs suspend practices until further notice. The health and well-being of our members is of the utmost importance and we ask all member clubs respect the dangers posed by the current situation.
We wish everyone well and with a combined effort, across all communities, we hope our actions will assist in the global effort to combat the spread of COVID-19.
